The Times and the AP

As day editor in New York for The Times’s International Desk, I assigned, coordinated and edited breaking news coverage worldwide. In collaboration with sister news hubs in Seoul and London, I led the planning for the department’s daily and enterprise reporting and editing. I helped plan and edit coverage of the wars in Israel-Gaza and Ukraine, which won Pulitzer Prizes for international reporting in 2024 and 2023. I reviewed the desk’s news, feature and investigative articles for quality, and helped direct the department’s online and print production. I served previously as the desk’s night editor, in all working seven years on the desk.

From 2000 to 2004, I oversaw coverage of New York City and the metropolitan area for The Associated Press, leading a staff of 25 reporters and editors. As New York City news editor, I helped direct AP’s coverage of the Sept. 11 attack; the crash of American Airlines Flight 587; the blackout of August 2003; and the financial crimes trials of Martha Stewart and others.
